Britannia Beach & Furry Creek | Sea to Sky Corridor Homes For Sale

South of Squamish along the Sea to Sky Highway, two communities sit on the edge of Howe Sound with some of the most dramatic views on the entire corridor. Neither is technically inside the District of Squamish, and that distinction matters for buyers: different municipality, different governance, and in the case of Furry Creek, different school catchment and property tax structure. But for buyers who want Howe Sound on their doorstep, proximity to both Vancouver and Whistler, and a genuine small-community feel, both deliver in ways that are hard to replicate inside town limits.

Britannia Beach has spent the last three years transforming. This was once a quiet, character-heavy village anchored by the Britannia Mine Museum, a National Historic Site. Today it is also home to a brand new 73-unit townhome development by Adera and Macdonald Communities, with a restored heritage retail village opening in phases through 2024 and 2025. The anchor tenants include a full-service grocery and liquor store (The Boat Shed Group), Copper Beach Bar + Kitchen, Beaucoup Bakery, and an on-site daycare. Nine heritage mining-era buildings were moved onto new foundations and retrofitted for commercial use. For the first time in years, residents here have daily amenities within walking distance. Homes range from original character stock and manufactured homes in the mid-$900s to new townhomes priced from roughly $1.2M to $1.8M. The commute to downtown Vancouver is approximately 35 minutes south, with Squamish about 10 minutes north.

Furry Creek is a different proposition entirely. This is a small, gated-feeling community built around the Furry Creek Golf and Country Club, an 18-hole par-72 course designed by Robert Muir Graves in 1993 and widely regarded as one of the most scenic in BC. Oliver's Landing is the primary residential enclave, a mix of craftsman SFH, waterfront townhomes, and half-duplexes with commanding views of Howe Sound and the coastal mountains. Prices typically range from $1.2M to $3.5M+ depending on waterfront exposure and home size. The Sea to Sky Grill sits inside the clubhouse. It is quieter, more car-dependent, and less oriented to the outdoor adventure crowd than Squamish itself, but for buyers who prioritize views, golf, and waterfront access in a low-density setting, there is almost nothing comparable at this price point on the corridor.

Both communities are roughly 30 to 40 minutes from North Vancouver and 50 minutes from Whistler. Neither has its own school. Britannia Beach children attend schools in Squamish; Furry Creek is within the West Vancouver School District catchment, which is a meaningful draw for some buyers.

Who loves it here

Buyers priced out of the Squamish market who still want Howe Sound and mountain views, golfers, remote workers who want true quiet, downsizers seeking water-facing properties, and buyers who value West Vancouver school district access (Furry Creek).

Who doesn't

Buyers who need to be inside Squamish for community services or schools, anyone who wants to walk anywhere without a car, families dependent on Squamish recreational infrastructure, and buyers who underestimate what "south of town" means for daily life.
